What is a Parish Hall Enquiry?
A Parish Hall Enquiry is an opportunity to have a matter dealt with outside of the court system. Parish Hall Enquiries can result in one of the following:
A Written Caution,
A fine of up to £200 or the Centenier may decide to refer the matter to Magistrates Court to be dealt with.
You may also ask the Centenier for the matter to be heard at court if you are not happy with the decision of the Centenier at the Parish Hall Enquiry.
What happens if the matter is sent to court?
If the matter is heard at Court, they can also impose a Fine. They may also consider endorsement of your licence, Disqualification and or ordering you to retake your driving test.
What happens if I cannot attend my Parish hall appearance?
If you become unable to attend your Parish Hall attendance please contact the relevant Parish hall named directly and ask them to reschedule the date.
What happens if I do not attend my Parish hall enquiry?
The relevant Parish will typically try to contact you to re arrange, but if they are unable to contact you, or you indicate that you do not wish to participate in this process a Centenier will then consider in your absence whether the matter should be dealt with at Magistrates court. If a decision is made to hear the matter at court and a hearing is scheduled you will legally be required to attend.
What happens if I cannot attend my court appearance?
If you are unable to attend Court, you should contact the Court immediately with evidence to justify your non-attendance, so that alternative arrangements can be made. If you do not attend and do not explain your non-attendance to the Court beforehand, it is likely that an Arrest Order will be made, and you may find yourself in custody.
