Man Sentenced for Sexual Offences
Today (Tuesday 9 April 2024), the Royal Court sentenced 39-year-old Fabio Manuel De Jesus Nunes to 9 and a half years in prison after he was found guilty of rape and sexual touching. He was also placed on the Sex Offenders Register for 15 years and has been recommended for deportation on his release.
De Jesus Nunes committed the offence in September 2023 at the victim’s home address whilst she was unconscious. The incident was captured on CCTV, which De Jesus Nunes discovered and tried to unplug the recording device in an attempt to destroy the evidence.
Detective Inspector Christina Maclennan from the Criminal Investigation Department applauded the victim’s courage in coming forward to report the incident and her bravery throughout the whole judicial process. She added: “We are committed to investigating and prosecuting all sexual offenders and encourage anyone who has been the victim of a crime of this nature to report to police or other agencies below who are in a position to offer support and guidance through all stages of the criminal justice process.”
