Assault sentencing
Earlier this year, 45-year-old Andrew Page was found guilty of a Grave and Criminal Assault by the Royal Court. Today, he was sentenced to four and a half years in prison and given a seven-year Domestic Abuse Protection Order.
Page was also given an extra two months for an unrelated theft from a jewellery shop in May 2023, where he exploited the staff member’s vulnerability, and the stolen jewellery was never recovered.
Page committed the grave and criminal assault at a residential address in December 2022, throwing his female victim to the ground, placing his hands around her neck several times and choking her to the point that she nearly passed out. He also hit her head against the skirting board and wall before he left the property.
Page initially reported to police that his victim had assaulted him, however, after further enquiries it was established that Page had been the aggressor during the incident.
Detective Constable Verity Thomas from the Public Protection Unit said:” This was a deliberate and nasty assault carried out by Page. Behaviour like this should never be tolerated. We will do everything in our power to see offenders such as this face justice. Anyone else who has experienced similar abuse can come forward and speak to officers at any time.”
